An on-duty officer was stabbed in the hand in Bruach na Sionna, Castleconnell shortly after 9pm.

Man arrested after garda stabbed in Limerick

A man in his 50s has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a garda in County Limerick last night.

An on-duty officer was stabbed in the hand in Bruach na Sionna, Castleconnell shortly after 9pm.

He was brought to University Hospital Limerick with minor injuries.

The man arrested is being held at Henry Street Garda station.
