An Irish biotech startup company will join forces with the Mayo Clinic in the United States to licence and develop a technology to detect preeclampsia in pregnancy.
Preeclampsia, affects around three million mothers worldwide every year and is associated with premature births and infant illness including cerebral palsy, blindness and epilepsy.
Inform Bioscience, are set to sign a license agreement with the American medical clinic, which also includes the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute at DCU and is supported by Enterprise Ireland.
It plans to develop a simple urine test which it says has the potential to revolutionise prenatal care programs globally.
