First Dates returned last night and Twitter had a lot to say

First Dates Ireland returned to our screens last night and it certainly got the nation talking, writes Sally Gorman.

Twitter was on the ball and it is safe to say that the people of Ireland don’t miss a beat.

First things first... that Enda Kenny lookalike.

One thing everyone seemed to agree on was Joey’s resemblance to our former Taoiseach.

The spit!

’Enda’ however didn’t do it for Jackie as he wasn’t tall enough for her...despite being exactly the same height!

The show was jam packed with political references...

Samuel even admitted to fancying Leo Varadkar.

It’s fair to say that date was doomed from the onset with Samuel referring to Leigh as "the type of lad who puts on glitter on his face at Electric Picnic” during a panicked toilet break.

Festival-goers all over the nation came out of the woodwork to give out.

It has already been branded the worst date in First Dates history and Samuel wasn’t shy about letting us know was he?

That eye roll!

There was no turning back once he admitted he wasn’t a fan of Leigh’s hair.

Moving on swiftly...Ben and Amy’s date caused some serious controversy when Amy was left unimpressed she had to foot half the bill.

Her face says it all.

I think we all knew they weren't a match made in heaven but Ben was left red faced when Amy rejected a second date.

At least they went for drinks after...it could have been worse right?

Lawson knows all about it after being stood up on his first date.

Hearts were breaking across the country last night for 'the one who got away.'
