Madonna announces 35-city tour

Madonna has announced a new tour – just days after her fall at the end of the Brits sparked headlines around the world.

The Queen of Pop’s Rebel Heart tour covers 35 cities in Europe and north America, with dates to be announced in Australia and Asia.

Madonna – who has been criticised for steep ticket prices in the past – will perform in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow in December.

The singer, 56, who announced the tour on her Twitter feed, recently revealed that she suffered whiplash injuries in her Brits fall and denied that the tumble was a publicity stunt.

She fell when her red and black Armani cape was tied too tightly around her neck.

“I had a little bit of a whiplash and I smacked the back of my head,” she told the Jonathan Ross show, in an appearance to be broadcast later this month.

“So there was a man standing over me with a flashlight until about 3am making sure I was still conscious.”

In 2008/9, Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet concerts became the highest-grossing tour ever by a solo act.

Madonna releases her 13th studio album Rebel Heart on March 9 and her new single Living For Love, which she performed as she stumbled in front of millions of viewers, has received a boost in the charts since the fall.

Live Nation’s president of global touring Arthur Fogel said: “Madonna continues to be one of the most successful touring artists in history – her shows are legendary and we are thrilled to have her going back on tour.”
