Green Party criticises Dublin council's warning to pedestrians

The Green Party has accused Dublin City Council of waging war against pedestrians in Dublin.

The City Council has placed signs around the city stating, "Pedestrians are the Single Biggest Group to Die on Dublin's Roads. Think twice before you cross the Road."

Green Party member Ciarán Cuffe said it is discouraging people from walking and cycling.

"In Dublin city, we should be encouraging more cycling, encouraging people to walk more - for all sorts of reasons - it's good o the planet its good for your health," he said.

"And the problem with this campaign is it's saying 'you may as well drive, because the streets aren't safe'."
