Newstalk announces extended schedule featuring a variety of new shows and presenters

Newstalk has today announced details of a new extended and weekend schedule for 2019, featuring a variety of new shows and presenters.

The station's breakfast show, Newstalk Breakfast will now run across seven days, Monday - Sunday, with Susan Keogh as the newest presenter.

This will make it the only live national news and current affairs breakfast show on the weekends and promises to bring listeners all "the latest on all the big stories of the morning with analysis and opinion".

It has been announced that Newstalk Business Editor Vincent Wall will host a new business programme ‘Taking Stock’ on Sunday mornings where he will take a global view of the big business stories and the trends affecting the world economy.

New Home & Property, Health & Fitness and Business Shows have also been added to the schedule.

On Saturday mornings, ‘The Home Show’ presented by journalist and broadcaster Sinead Ryan will update listeners on everything from the property market to interior design, home technology and gardening.

Sunday mornings welcomes the addition of Alive and Kicking presented by Clare McKenna. The programme will cover the important topics of fitness, nutrition, mindfulness and the latest in health news.

Newstalk has also announced Gavan Reilly as the host of ‘On The Record’ on Sunday mornings from 11 am.

Listener favourites such as ‘Down to Business with Bobby Kerr’, ‘Futureproof with Jonathan McCrea’, ‘Tech Talk with Jess Kelly’ and ‘Between The Lines with Andrea Gilligan’ continue as part of the new schedule, while John Fardy joins as the new host of movie and TV show ‘ScreenTime’.

Speaking about the new weekend schedule, Patricia Monahan, Managing Editor, Newstalk, said: “We are constantly evolving our output to cater for a new generation of talk listeners. This weekend schedule delivers great new programmes and the only seven day a week news and current affairs breakfast programme in Ireland. We are excited about the new line-up and confident it will be a hit with our audience’.

The new schedule kicks off this Saturday, March 9.
