999 call saying two men were dead in a field set off search for Dublin men missing in Cavan

Dozens of gardaí have resumed searches for two men believed to be missing in Cavan.

Dubliners Eoin O'Connor and Anthony Keegan, who are both in their 30s, have not been seen since Tuesday.

Their relatives raised the alarm on Wednesday evening.

Gardaí have appealed to farmers and landowners to check their outbuildings as part of the search operation.

Crime Correspondent with the Irish Daily Star Michael O'Toole said an anonymous call to gardaí was also central to their inquiries.

"Gardaí received a 999 call saying that two men were dead and that their bodies could be found in a field in Ballyjamesduff in west Cavan," he said.

"That precipitated a major search, coupled with the fact that relatives and friends of the two missing men went to Mountjoy and Santry garda stations on Wednesday night to declare them missing."
