Galway nurses to protest overcrowding

Nurses will hold a one-hour protest to highlight overcrowding at the Emergency Department at the University Hospital in Galway.

Members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation and SIPTU will take part in the rally, during their lunchtime, from 1pm.

The demonstration is being held to highlight their concerns over the number of patients on trolleys in the Accident and Emergency Department.

INMO Industrial Relations Officer Claire Treacy, says there will be no disruption to services.

"The protest today is a lunchtime protest," Ms Treacy said.

"There will be no disruption to services- this is nurses protesting during their own lunchtime and we invite members of the public to join and to protest with us."
