Leonardo DiCaprio will star in 'The Revenant'.
The 39-year-old actor is set to take on the role of revenge-seeking frontiersman Hugh Glass, who is mauled by a grizzly bear in the movie adaptation of Michael Punke's book - full title 'The Revenant: A Novel Of Revenge' - according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Academy Award-nominated Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu - famed for his 2006 drama 'Babel' starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett - will direct the film which he co-wrote with Mark. L. Smith.
Steve Golin, Keith Redmon and David Kanter will produce with Inarritu, Arnon Milchan and James Skotchdopole, while Paul Green is executive producing.
Although no further cast members have been revealed, the film is set to start production in November and will be released in autumn next year.
DiCaprio last hit the big screen in 2013's 'The Wolf of Wall Street' and was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of corrupt stock broker Jordan Belfort.
Meanwhile, Inarritu‘s next movie 'Birdman', which stars Edward Norton, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts, is due out in October.
