Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps has been arrested on a charge of driving under the influence in the US, police said.

Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps has been arrested on a charge of driving under the influence in the US, police said.

Officers said they stopped the 29-year-old at the Fort McHenry Tunnel in Baltimore.

Maryland Transportation Authority Police said he was going at 84mph in a 45mph zone.

Phelps has been charged with driving under the influence and excessive speed. He was released after his arrest.

This is Phelps’s second DUI charge in Maryland. A native of Baltimore County, the Olympic swimmer faced a similar charge in 2004 in the Eastern Shore area.

Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all time with 22 Olympic medals.
