Home improvements were the high up on the agenda this year with renovation videos proving to be among the most watched by Irish YouTube users.

The video sharing platform announced their annual list of top trending videos in Ireland today, ranking clips from the past year based on viewership.

The year's most watched video, Mr Tfue's 16-minute-long video showing the process of building an underground swimming pool house in 60 days, may be beyond the renovation capabilities of many, but over 196.5 million people have been enthralled by the process so far.

Second up was British television presenter, Phillip Schofield's discussion with co-presenter Holly Willoughby on ITV's This Morning, speaking for the first time about being gay and how his family had responded to the news.

Back in February, Schofield shared his journey with his sexuality with Willoughby and the public in a clip that has since been viewed over 6.7 million times.

A video by popular makeup artist, Nikkie de Jager (known as Nikkietutorials) speaking to her followers for the first time about being transgender also claimed a spot in the top 10.

The most watch Irish video on the list comes from comedy act Foil, Arms and Hog in third. Their 'Quarantine Maths Disaster' captures the struggle faced by teachers and students around the country during the closure of schools earlier this year, amassing 1.7 million views on their take on online classes.

Away from renovation and comedy content, YouTube also ranks the country's most watched music videos each year with Future's 'Life is good' featuring Drake nabbing the number one slot with a eye-watering 1.3 billion views around the world since its release on January 9th.

Joel Corry's 'Head & Heart', which was number one in the Irish singles chart during the summer, took second position, followed by 'GOOBA' by 6IX9INE.
