In an updated message, Limerick City and County Council has advised motorists on route from East Clare to Limerick City to avoid the R463 Corbally Road, and use the R464 via Parteen and Longpavement.

The council has also advised motorists that while the Corbally Road remains open, it is likely there will be severe traffic congestion is on the route (R463) until 9pm tonight.

There is one lane traffic in operation at the entrance to the Mill Road, Corbally, where the burst pipe was located.
