Three British men have been remanded in continuing custody in connection with the seizure of €80m worth of cocaine aboard a yacht off the Irish coast last month.

Seventy-year-old John Powell, 35-year-old Benjamin Mellor and 28-year-old Thomas Britteon are each charged with a single offence relating to the seizure of one tonne of cocaine aboard the yacht, Makayabella.

The state alleges in the charge that the three men intended to import the drug contrary to Irish law.
