Chris O’Dowd is to be awarded the freedom of Roscommon tonight in his hometown of Boyle.
Roscommon Co. Council will honour the star with the title for making an ‘outstanding contribution to the county’s standing at home and abroad’.

Having shot to fame in Channel 4 comedy The IT Crowd, O’Dowd has gone on to forge a hugely successful career in Hollywood and returned to Roscommon to film Sky One series Moone Boy.
"It's really great news and a great recognition for Ireland and Boyle and Chris, in particular," Chris’s dad Seán told Morning Ireland this morning.
Chris is over the 'Moone' with the news and went as far to say to one fan that it is the greatest compliment he has ever received.
