A three-year-old boy has died after being hit by a JCB near Bantry in West Cork.

A three-year-old boy has died after being hit by a JCB near Bantry in West Cork.

It is understood the three-year-old boy suffered crush injuries and died after being struck by a digger at a townland known as Gortnascreeny several kilometres from Drimoleague at around 10.30am.

The boy was taken to Bantry Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí and the HSA are investigating.
