Gardaí in Kildare are investigating after the death of a local man in Athy yesterday evening.

Gardaí in Kildare are investigating after the death of a local man in Athy yesterday evening.

Officers were called to the scene of a two-car collision at Blackparks at 5.15pm, where it is believed the 31-year-old driver of a vehicle crashed into the back of another vehicle after suffering a medical seizure.

The man was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise and was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Gardaí are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.
