Sinn Féin's deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald has criticised a blog post which described Máiria Cahill's relationship with her alleged abuser as a "year-long sexual liaison".

Sinn Féin's deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald has criticised a blog post which described Máiria Cahill's relationship with her alleged abuser as a "year-long sexual liaison".

On her Twitter page, Ms McDonald described the claims, made by an anonymous blogger, as "shameful and cruel".

The blog post suggested Ms Cahill's alleged abuser would have been attractive to many 16-year-olds.

Its author is unknown, but it was shared on Facebook by Seamus Finucane, one of the people accused of participating in a "kangaroo court" to investigate her claims.

Ms Cahill has described this as "disgusting" and has again called on Sinn Féin to apologise to her.
