Man dies following shooting attack in Meath

Update 10.30pm: The victim has now passed away from his injuries.

There are reports that the victim was a well known criminal who had been living in Ratoath.

Update 9.55pm: A 55-year old man has been shot at a housing estate.

Gardaí are to investigate whether the shooting is linked to a gangland feud - which has claimed two lives, since the start of the year in Dublin.

The victim is believed to have been sitting in his car when the attack happened.

Earlier: A man has been shot at a housing estate near the Dublin Meath border.

Gardaí are at scene of the shooting at The Old Mill housing estate in Rathoath, Co Meath.

It is believed to have occurred at approximately 7.45pm this evening.
