Latest: Man charged with serious assault on his baby daughter
An 18-year-old man has been remanded on bail after he was charged with a serious assault on his 10-week-old baby daughter.
The man was charged with assault causing serious harm, at a special sitting of Clonakilty District Court this afternoon.
The baby suffered severe head injuries and broken bones in the alleged assault at her home in Co Louth five months ago.
She is continuing to receive 24-hour care at Temple Street Hospital in Dublin, where she was transferred after the assault.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the child, was arrested in the Mayfield area of Cork city this morning by gardaí from Co Louth.
