Surgeries cancelled at children's hospital after water pipe bursts

Staff at Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin have hit out at conditions after a burst water pipe resulted in two days of cancelled surgeries this week.

According to the Irish Times, staff have branded the situation a "disgrace", saying modern day healthcare should not be subjected to these dilapidated surroundings.

It is not known how many operations were cancelled at the 140-year-old facility, but it is understood priority cases are being dealt with.

It is hoped theatres will be fully functional by the end of today.
