Cars to be banned from one side of College Green

Cars will be banned from one side of Dublin's College Green in a trial by Dublin City Council next year.

A temporary closure of traffic lanes and the creation of a pedestrian plaza in front of the Bank of Ireland is proposed in a bid to make the area more friendly for those on foot.

It would see the area in front of the bank blocked off to traffic and a two-way system introduced in front of Trinity College.

There is already a ban on private cars travelling north through College Green between 7am and 10am, and between 4pm and 7pm, Monday to Friday.
