Senior HSE managers 'can earn up to €147,000 per year'

The HSE is being criticised for high wages being paid to senior staff.

Today's Sunday Business Post claims managers in the health service can earn up to €147,000 per year. It also says the number of highly paid workers has soared by 30% since 2012.

Fianna Fáil's health spokesperson Billy Kelleher, who obtained the figures, said that at a time of severe shortages it was unacceptable that precious funding was being diverted to hiring and promoting more managers.

The HSE claimed it needs good managers to provide focus, and that they are also trying to recruit frontline staff.
