Murder accused claims witness spoke openly of hatred for him
The trial of a man accused of murdering a Roma teenager has heard how a key witness spoke openly of his hatred for him before going to gardaí.
Alan Wilson of New Street Gardens, Dublin 8, denies murdering Marioara Rostas at a house on Brabazon Street in January 2008.
For the past few days, Fergus O'Hanlon has been giving evidence against Mr Wilson -a man he once considered a friend.
He claims he helped him dispose of Mariora's body after she was shot dead at a house he shared with Maxine Wilson - a sister of the accused.
Her remains were found four years later after Mr O'Hanlon came forward with information.
His reasons for doing so have been the subject of today's cross examination.
In the months leading up to the discovery, the court heard he spoke openly about his hatred for Mr Wilson.
He allegedly told a Garda: "I've waited four years to f**k him over for what he deserves".
Mr O'Hanlon, a convicted criminal, has immunity from prosecution but he insists he did not strike a deal with gardaí when he first approached them.
He denied that he said those words, and said that he helped dispose of the body because it was a case of "damned if you do and dead if you don't".
The trial continues before a jury of 10 men and two women.
