Final deadline set to resolve Greek crisis

The President of the European Council says Sunday is the final deadline for resolving the Greek debt crisis.

Donald Tusk was speaking after a crisis meeting of euro zone leaders in Brussels tonight.

He said the Greek government has to set out detailed proposals to its creditors by Thursday, which will be followed on Sunday by a meeting of all EU leaders to try and finalise a deal.

Tusk said: "Until now I have avoided talking about deadlines. But tonight I have to say it loud and clear that the final deadline ends this week.

"All of us are responsible for the crisis and all of us have a responsibility to resolve it."

Taoiseach Enda Kenny says everyone should work towards keeping Greece in the euro:

"Everybody should work to ensure that Greece remains a member of the Euro group and of the Eurozone and that Greece will be able to deal with the issues that are affecting the Greek people now and move on to becoming a contributing party in due course."
