Koeman tweet highlights Saints woes

Ronald Koeman tweeted a picture of an empty Southampton training ground on Monday following a summer exodus from St Mary’s.

Whether the Dutchman meant it in jest or not, he posted the photo on his official Twitter account showing an empty pitch and a few cones at the club’s Staplewood base along with the words: “Ready for training.”

Koeman sent the message less than 24 hours after Croatian defender Dejan Lovren became the fourth high-profile departure from Saints this summer. He joined Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana at Anfield and Luke Shaw has also moved to Manchester United. Speculation also persists over the futures of the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Jay Rodriguez, Calum Chambers and Nathaniel Clyne.

Koeman has brought in Dusan Tadic from FC Twente and Feyenoord’s Graziano Pelle for a combined £20m but that has done little to alleviate the feeling there is a rush for the exit happening at St Mary’s and Koeman’s tweet, even if not intentional, only seemed to emphasise that.
