A post-mortem examination has confirmed Emiliano Sala died from 'head and trunk' injuries.

The inquest into the death of the footballer, who was on a plane which crashed last month, has been opened and adjourned at Dorset Coroner's Court in England.

Proceedings will resume in November, after the Air Accidents Investigation Branch said the inquiry into the tragedy could take between six months and a year.

The 28-year-old footballer was flying with pilot David Ibbotosn on January 21 when it went crashed into the sea.

Mr Ibbotson's body has not been found and his family have launched an appeal to help find his body.

Paris Saint-Germain footballer Kylian Mbappe has donated £27,000 (€31,000) to the fundraising appeal.
