Japanese baseball player Munenori Kawasaki has been a household name in Toronto since capturing the hearts of Blue Jays fans last year with an endearing interview.

Having failed to make much of an impression with the MLB franchsie, Kawasaki was switched to the Jays’s sister-side in Buffalo who play in a lower league.

Now though, Kawasaki is back in Toronto as a result of an injury to teammate Maicer Izturis and has again become a hit with fans following his latest interview, during which he showed off his new-found command of the English language.

He may not have garnered many accolades for his time on the pitch since moving to North America, but it really is great to see the enthusiasm he has for the game and his desire to better himself.

In the words of the man himself: “I’ll be back.” And we certainly hope he will be.
