Toulouse 36 - 8 Ulster

Ulster face a long spin home after a heavy defeat to French outfit Toulouse in the quarter-final of the Champions Cup.

Toulouse got in over the Ulster try line within the opening five minutes, with Cheslin Kolbe eluding Jacob Stockdale, setting the tone of the remainder of the match.

Kolbe would continue to be a thorn in Ulster's side for the remainder of the half, claiming his second try of the day just before the break.

A penalty slotted over by Irish international John Cooney was his side's only showing in the opening 40, with Ulster showing signs of struggle in the breakdown.

The second half did not look much brighter for the province, with Sofiane Guitoune spotting the pass to Antoine Dupont who got in for Toulouse's third try with under 30 minutes of play remaining.

An injury for Stuart McCloskey sent him packing to the sidelines, before Pita Ahki and Thomas Ramos got in for the homeside's final two scores.

A condolence try for Cooney in the 72nd minute reclaimed some pride for Ulster, but a missed conversion was the ultimate end to a disappointing showing in the south of France.
