Limerick and Tipperary drew in their opening Allianz League game as it ended 20-20 at the Gaelic Grounds.

Tipperary led 19-15 with 12 minutes of normal time left to play, but the All-Ireland champions managed to claw things back to earn the draw.

In the opening fixture of the day, Galway hammered Westmeath 5-34 to 1-16 in Mullingar this afternoon to kick of their Allianz League campaign.

Conor Cooney, Conor Whelan, Niall Burke, Jarleth Mannion and Brian Concannon all got on the scoresheet for the Tribesmen.

Meanwhile, Kilkenny beat Dublin 1-20 to 0-18  in the Division One Allianz National Hurling League game at Parnell Park.

Right-wing forward Martin Keoghan scored the only goal of the game as The Cats won by a margin of five points in the end.
