RTÉ made an absolute howler in their sports coverage last night

There are some red faces around Montrose today, after a major error on RTÉ’s Six One news last night left viewers exasperated.

During their sports coverage they included a feature on Kerry hurling - celebrating the increasing popularity of the small ball sport in the footballing stronghold.

The only problem was that the actual clip shown was a good five years out of date.

Instead of discussing the current Kerry hurlers, led by Limerick legend Ciaran Carey, the video shown discussed Kerry under the stewardship of John Meyler.

That would be John Meyler who stepped down as Kerry manager in 2012. *Facepalm*

The station didn’t appear to initially notice their blunder - but viewers sure did.

The report also featured a number of players who are either retired or hurling elsewhere.

Don’t bother going to the RTÉ Player to check it out though - the segment has since been edited out.
