Donald Trump's immigration comments spark fear for undocumented Irish

Donald Trump's latest comments on immigration has sparked fears for the undocumented Irish living in the United States.

In a speech to supporters overnight, the Republican nominee reiterated his plans to track down and deport illegal US residents if he becomes President.

Of the reported millions of illegal immigrants, 50,000 of those are understood to be Irish citizens.

Fine Gael Senator Martin Conway says Mr Trump's remarks are concerning: "These are people who have had their families in America.

"They see America as their home and certainly the inflammatory comments not just last night but indeed other interviews by Donald Trump, certainly does not make those people feel welcome and it certainly isn't the America and the United States of America that people all over the world have grown to respect."
