The Army bomb squad has made safe two improvised explosive devices in Cavan.

The team was deployed after two suspect devices were discovered in a house in Cavan town last night.

A cordon was set up and a number of surrounding houses were evacuated.

The devices were made safe within an hour of the bomb squad arriving on the scene and have since been handed over to Gardaí.

The bomb disposal team has been called out 127 times this year.
