The body of a woman has been found in the River Slaney in Co. Wexford.

The body of a woman has been found in the River Slaney in Co. Wexford.

The body was found shortly after 3pm this afternoon, half a mile south of Bunclody in the search for Anne Crean of Kilmyshal, who has been missing since Thursday.

As a result, the search for the mother of two has been stood down while formal identification of the body is made at Waterford Regional Hospital.

The search today involved members of the Garda Underwater Unit and Naval Service divers, along with Slaney Search and Rescue and local volunteers.
