A new group has been set up to try and secure the future of the post office network.

New post office group looks to the future

A new group has been set up to try and secure the future of the post office network.

The Post Office Network Business Development Group will examine the potential and opportunities for new Government and commercial business that could be transacted through the post office network.

"We're going to be looking at the model that is the future post office: what it's going to look like, what it's going to sell, how it's going to work commercially," said the group's chair, Bobby Kerr.

"All the stakeholders will be involved: the postmasters, the unions, the department of communications."

"I'm really honoured to be asked to do this, because I think there's a big task here."
