Rich List shows top Irish fortunes growing at record rate

Irish eyes are smiling as personal fortunes have hit record levels.

The 2015 Sunday Times Rich List shows that the combined wealth of the richest 250 people is up by 15.9% on last year.

That is one of the highest rates of growth in the publication's history.

Hilary and Alannah Weston, who control Brown Thomas and Penneys, and Selfridges and Primark in the UK, topped the Irish Rich List with a fortune of €15bn.

The Collison brothers, who run business Stripe, joined the Irish list worth €68m just two years ago and now share a wealth of €1.37bn - the youngest billionaires in Irish history.

New entrants to this year's list include Sir Daniel and Lady Day-Lewis at €62m.
