Midnight deadline for election posters and cable ties to be taken down

It's hunting season for election posters.

The deadline for taking them down is midnight tonight - and that includes the cable ties used to hang them.

The clean-up may be complicated by Storm Dennis which is bringing heavy rain and strong winds across the country this weekend.

However offending candidates face fines of €150 under the Litter Pollution Act if they don't get their posters down in time.
