NCT release car report to crash victim’s mother

A Cork mother has received a report from the NCT on the car her daughter was driving when she died in a crash almost two years ago.

Amanda O'Flaherty, who was 26, died in the collision in Cobh on December 29 2012.

Her mother Paula had said the car had defects to the rear suspension and was unroadworthy at the time.

After initially refusing to release the NCT report, citing data protection regulations, an intervention from the Road Safety Authority yesterday has seen the NCT release the cert to her.

The report has said the car was roadworthy.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on RedFM Paula claims the report's findings are disappointing and upsetting.

“I'm disappointed as to the way it was handled and the NCT.”

“I'm upset at what I see in front of me," said Paula.

"The car was in a very bad condition, but here it passes everything - so someone has made a mistake somewhere along the line."
