A woman has died following a car crash in West Dublin overnight.

A 31-year-old woman has died following a car crash in West Dublin overnight.

The single vehicle collision happened at the Nangor road / Ring rd junction in Clondalkin at around 4.30am, when a car collided with a lamp post.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the woman was taken to Tallaght Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Traffic diversions are in place this morning to facilitate a forensic collision examination.

The Outer Ring road is closed between the Baldonnell Road turn-off and the junction of the Nangor Rd.

Those coming from Lucan are being diverted at the Grangecastle roundabout, while motorists travelling from the Naas rd are being advised to divert via Kingswood.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the crash to contact Clondalkin Garda station.
