A woman has died in a road accident in Co Meath.

Woman dies after car is involved in collision with a truck

A woman has died in a road accident in Co Meath.

The woman, who was in her 40s, was driving her car at Baymore Cross, Laytown, at around 2pm this afternoon when it was involved in a collision with a truck.

She was the sole occupant of her car and was pronounced dead at the scene before her body was removed to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan.

The driver of the truck did not require hospital treatment.

Gardaí are investigating the accident and the stretch of road is closed for a forensic examination with local diversions in place.
