The Ceann Comharlie will not be seeking reappointment, it was confirmed today.

As the outgoing holder of the office, Sean Barrett will automatically be re-elected.

However, he said that he will not seek or accept any nomination for the position in the next Dáil.

New rules mean any incoming TD can put themselves forward for Ceann Comharlie post and seek to be elected by secret ballot.
