The sentencing hearing for three former Anglo Irish Bank executives found guilty of trying to defraud Revenue has heard character evidence on behalf of each of the officials.

Former chief operations officer Tiarnan O’Mahoney, former company secretary Bernard Daly and former assistant manager Aoife Maguire were found guilty yesterday of conspiring to hide accounts connected to former Anglo boss Sean FitzPatrick.

Lawyers for Tiarnan O'Mahoney read the court a letter on behalf of former Dublin football manager Tommy Lyons, who said Mr O'Mahoney had given "great support" to Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club.

Lawyers for Aoife Maguire meanwhile have heard that she was an "extremely dedicated" member of Good Counsel Camogie Club in a "disadvantaged" area in Drimnagh and had served as a reference on job applications for many young club members.

Judge Patrick McCartan told the court he was minded to set a maximum term of five years if all or any of the three were sentenced to prison.
