Taoiseach: FG official took it upon themselves to deal with McNulty appointment

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said an official in Fine Gael dealt with the appointment of John McNulty to the board of the Museum of Modern Art, and did not report to officials dealing with his Seanad nomination.

The Taoiseach has faced another barage of questions in the Dáil this afternoon, but he is insisting he wants to move on to running the country.

Fianna Fáil says the Taoiseach's story is "unravelling as it gets made up".

The Taoiseach again insisted it was a breakdown of procedures saying: "In accepting the fact that the process within the Fine Gael system was itself flawed, because the official dealing with this did not go back to the sub-committee of the executive council.

"That was a cause of great angst and a cause of great concern to me, because they took it upon themselves to do that."
