Latest: Man, 29, dies after being critically injured in 'serious' M50 crash

Update 6pm: A man who was critically injured in a collision on the M50 earlier today has passed away.

The crash happened at the merging of the off ramp and M50 at Junction 5 southbound at 7.45am.

A 29-year-old motorcyclist was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where he has since passed away.

A post mortem is due to take place at a later date. The road has since fully re-opened.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, particularly any road users who may have camera footage, to contact Finglas Garda Station on 01 666 7500 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Update 9.52am: A man is in critical condition after what gardaí describe as a "serious" collision.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital after the incident that occurred this morning at around 7.45am.

The incident occurred at the merging of the off ramp and M50 at Junction 5 Southbound.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing and have appealed to the public for any witnesses to come forward.
