A major international drugs trafficking ring is believed to have been smashed yesterday.
Nine men from Ireland and Eastern Europe are being held in garda stations across Dublin in connection with the operation.
A quantity of cannabis resin, herbal cannabis, ecstasy tablets and what is thought to be cocaine was recovered after gardaí carried out searches in Dublin and Co Meath last night, following a lengthy investigation into drug-trafficking into the country.
The total value of the haul is thought to be as high as €5m.
Six firearms were also seized, along with a quantity of ammunition when gardaí swooped on premises in Navan, Finglas and other parts of Dublin yesterday morning.
The nine people who are being questioned are aged between 29 and 46 and are being held at various garda stations across Dublin.
