Gardaí investigate shooting: FF say Dublin shootings becoming a trend

Gardaí at Ronanstown in Dublin are appealing for witnesses after shots were fired in a housing estate in West Dublin last night.

At around 9.50pm several shots were fired into an unoccupied car outside a house at Greenfort Gardens in Clondalkin.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Dáithi De Roiste says this area has been targeted a number of times before.

He said: "This happened on Friday when kids were after getting their Easter holidays, there were still kids actually playing on the estate.

"This is very worrying, this is a trend where it seems to be shootings on a weekly basis.

"Less than a mile down the road, there was another shooting a couple of weeks ago. If we go a couple of miles outside that, there was a man shot dead in a case of mistaken identity.

"I think what this matter is looking for, it is demanding a political response."
