The Public Accounts Committee is to call the HSE for an early meeting over new concerns on how it awards contracts.

The committee's received evidence that the HSE has given valuable commercial deals to some former members of staff without a public competition.

The dossier also claims that this practice makes it more difficult for the HSE to investigate alleged abuse at some nursing homes.
