Bicycle use in Dublin up 82% in five years

The number of bicycle trips in the capital increased by 82% in the five years to 2011.

In 2011 there were 18 million bike trips in Dublin - up from 10 million in 2006.

The increase in the number of journeys is being put down to the success of the Dublin Bikes scheme, the Cycle-to-work scheme and new bicycle paths in the city.
