Liam Beckett is a friend of the Armagh doctor known to many as Doc John.
"John loved the sport, he loved bikes and he was devoted to the cause, and so many riders have benefitted from him over the years," said Mr Beckett.
"John's work has made the difference between life and death for many motorcyclists. And now John is gone. My thoughts and my prayers are with John's family at this time," he said.
