Micheál Martin accuses Government of doctoring health figures

The Fianna Fáil Leader has accused the Government of doctoring health figures to give the impression all is well.

A story in today's Irish Examiner has revealed that statistics on waiting lists have been deliberately altered to mislead the public.

Speaking in Roscrea this morning, Micheal Martin said the management of the health service is in a mess and that's bad news for patients: “This morning in the Irish Examiner we learn that the Government were doctoring the health service plan.

“They were asking the chief executive officer of the HSE to remove sections of that plan, where he is warning in advance that this will be the worst year for health services 2016.

“Because of the shortage of money and they are admitting they are short, up to €150m for hospitals this year.

“That means trouble for patients.”
