A viable improvised explosive device has been made safe in Co. Wicklow.

Members of the Army Bomb Disposal Team were called just before 9pm last night after a suspect device was found at a private residence in the Old Court area of Bray.

A cordon and road closures were put in place for public safety and a number of nearby houses were evacuated.

The device was removed to a military location where it was dismantled and has since been handed over to Gardaí.
